From time to time, Playthings Manor<\/a> may hold an Open House at our facility in Coghaven<\/a>. An Open House is simply an opportunity, spontaneous or planned, to encourage players to visit the Manor at the same time for in-character roleplay. Anything that can happen during an Open House could happen at any other time too – Open Houses just raise the likelihood of it happening at a particular time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open House Guidelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During an Open House, we encourage everyone to keep interactions in character <\/strong>(IC) inside the Playthings Manor building. That means that Visitors should feel free to treat Playthings like the toys they are<\/strong>: you can touch, dress, undress, or give orders to Playthings, operate their controls, and so on, without regard for any opinions they may express about this (as long as those opinions are clearly not OOC). Visitors may freely interrupt the activity of Playthings at any time if they so choose. And, likewise, Playthings should respond as the programmed machines they are<\/strong>: they should obey orders, with whatever degree of enjoyment, resistance, or frustration is in character for that particular Plaything. Please try not to be AFK for more than a few minutes. Even inanimate characters should be present and reactive during the Open House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to engage in an OOC conversation, or to go AFK for more than a few minutes, please step outside the Playthings Manor building. The courtyard, the rest of the region, and the whole rest of Second Life is available for that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there are multiple Visitors present, please do not monopolize the Playthings present. Allow all Visitors to share the Playthings and enjoy the Open House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors may enjoy Playthings anywhere in the Manor, including the Playroom, or in the Courtyard. We ask that you do not take Playthings further from the Manor during the Open House, but you may make arrangements to do so at a later time if the Plaything\u2019s owner (and player) is amenable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that if you intend to be a Plaything, even at an Open House, you must own and attach a Plaything Directive Module (PDM)<\/strong> so that your name appears on the Plaything Profile Board. A PDM is available for L$99 from the vendor below the Profile Board. Creating a brief profile for the board is recommended and can be done in just a minute or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling an Open House<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Anyone can declare a Open House at Playthings Manor at any time. <\/strong>Just post in the Playthings Manor chat group<\/a> (and any other appropriate groups you’d like to share the information with). You might post something like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cANNOUNCING: Playthings Manor Open House this evening at from 5pm-7pm SLT. See https:\/\/acs-hub.net\/?page_id=2133 for more information!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recommend declaring them a few hours to a day or two ahead of time, but if you really want to, you can just announce in the group that it\u2019s an Open House right now and hope that people will show up. It’s even okay to announce an Open House that you’re not certain you<\/em> can come to, though we recommend you do at least intend <\/em>to be there for it, and you are definitely not required to be there for the whole thing (though it would be great if you can).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be clear, when we say anyone can declare an Open House, that includes you!<\/strong> Visitors, Playthings, people who have never been to Playthings Manor before, people who haven’t met anyone there yet, people who aren’t sure they know how to roleplay (but are willing to try)… yes, really. Anyone. You will be doing a favor for everyone who wants to see fun things happen at the Manor. We would love<\/em> to have the “problem” of too many<\/em> people calling too many<\/em> Open Houses, but we do not have that problem now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OOC Consent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As always, no player should be pressured or expected to participate in any play they don\u2019t want to participate in. Choosing to play a Plaything character does indicate that one is generally consenting to being approached for non-consensual play, but it does not waive one\u2019s right to opt out of play in an OOC way. Even at an Open House, no one has a right to be played with. A Plaything may get ignored by the Visitors present; a Visitor may not find a Plaything that meets their desires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
